| COLIN
STOKES

|
Colin
Stokes was born in 1964 and describes himself as ‘still a
punk’. He has worked in a wide range of youth services,
including the Camperdown Adolescent Unit, Willoughby Council and High
Street Youth Health Service. Most recently he was Program Coordinator
at The Fact Tree Youth Service before coming to Glebe Youth Service in
mid 2004.
Colin is a strong believer in locally based youth
services that are
enmeshed in the community. At the same time he has watched gratefully
the increasing professionalism of the youth service industry and is
firm about maintaining boundaries that keep workers ‘friendly
but not friends’.
Until recently Colin lived in Glebe for 20 years
and has a deep love of
the area and the people. He hopes to be a part of the Glebe community
for the rest of his life. | |
| AINSLEY
WARNER

|
Ainsley
has worked with the Glebe Youth Service since May 2007.
She graduated from a bachelor of Social Work that she completed at the
University of New South Wales and is planning on returning to study her
masters in counselling.
Prior to working at Glebe, Ainsley was employed as a youth
worker in Redfern at the PCYC for three years, in a number of roles.
She started there as an activity officer then went on to running a
traffic offenders program and then designing and coordinating youth
programs and volunteers. Ainsley left Redfern with the hope of
continuing her work with indigenous young people, but with more
emphasis on one-on-one casework.
At the Glebe Youth Service, Ainsley’s work involves
case work with the young women from the Glebe area where she assists
with issues surrounding housing, sexual health, pre and post pregnancy,
education, counselling referrals and any other issues that may arise.
Ainsley also offers advocacy with court support, Youth Justice
Conferences, Juvenile Justice, Probation and Parole, with various house
schools and other organisations.
Ainsley also runs a program called Girlzone, in
partnership with other
female workers from the City of Sydney Council and Elsie’s
Women’s Refuge. Ainsley is currently designing a girls group
for the 15-24 yr olds which will offer a safe and comfortable space for
the local young women to engage in life skills and health oriented
workshops. | |
